Jason Isbell is one of America’s best songwriters, and I’m not the only guy to believe that as fact. Spin, Rolling Stone and the New York Times all share my belief. So fresh off a sold-out show at the Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, (That’s in Tennessee, the home of America’s music) and a thrilling Austin City Limits taping, there was only way for Mr. Isbell to top his incredible recent run: an acoustic, intimate performance in the GSD&M theater. Playing alongside his lovely and talented wife, Amanda Shires, Isbell treated us to songs from his critically acclaimed new album, “Southeastern.” He was poignant, funny and inspiring. Performing the songs for us in much the same way he wrote them. It was a real treat to be at work that day. Again, not just my opinion, see for yourself:
