Whether it’s a holiday, special occasion, or just happens to be happy hour, it’s the suds that make a party. Our favorite spots to take in a beer or three are as inviting, unpretentious, and Austinesque as they come.
Deep Eddy Cabaret
2315 Lake Austin Blvd.
This joint basically just serves beer, but it’s the details that make this place a landmark. The ice-cold mugs. The two picnic tables in the fenced in courtyard. The hypnotizing wall of vintage animated beer signs. And if there’s a better jukebox in town, we haven’t found it yet.

Horseshoe Lounge
2034 S. Lamar
They only serve beer. They only take cash. But while this dive might not be trendy or upscale, it’s damn authentic. Notice the neon signs and wood paneling. Notice the bar in the shape of an actual horseshoe. It’s all so genuine that it’ll stick with you for a while, much like the beer soaked floor.

The Ginger Man
301 Lavaca St.
This favorite American pub has an expansive variety of draught beers and an outdoor beer garden to match. This comfortable bar is right downtown and filled to the brim with draught beers from across the globe.
