Go Here, Do This…

I attended a panel on location based services with some top people from the industry (Yelp, LivingSocial, and Wired). One would think this would be a pretty interesting topic with how fast the space is growing. LBS provides one of the most simple and useful ideas for marketers in today’s world– target a user with a specific message based on their location.

Unfortunately, beyond stating what any informed digital person has known about LBS since its origination, these industry leaders clearly hadn’t thought beyond where they’re at today with their businesses and what more they have to offer. The only true takeaway is that people are creatures of habit, and eventually these services will be able to predict where you will go eat with a friend at a certain time of the day. Cool, right? But I want to know more…

I definitely left disappointed.
