GSD&M brings iconic Austin art to life for “Hi, How Are You” Day

Did you know that one in five adults struggle with mental health? That’s why on January 22 in Austin, Texas, the Hi, How Are You Foundation and Austin City Limits are calling on locals and non-locals to ask four little words: “Hi, how are you?”

The foundation reached out to GSD&M to create the Four Little Words campaign, which includes a PSA video and radio spot, as well as social content inspired by the street art of Austin’s visual artist and musician, Daniel Johnston’s.

GSD&M jumped on the opportunity to take on the project pro bono, having a long history of advocating for mental health issues and contributing to breaking the social silence through creativity. While millions of Americans struggle with their mental health, many do not talk about it. We wanted to help the foundation encourage positive and open dialogue about mental health and remove toxic stigmas.

In its second year, this annual event, Hi, How Are You Day is hitting harder than ever. The Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo, Built to Spill, Gavin DeGraw and more are taking the stage at ACL Live for a concert for mental health awareness that YouTube, AXS and Quello will stream internationally.

Join the conversation with #HIHOWAREYOU.
