We can do better

The session was called “Death of the Textbook, Emergence of Gaming.” Even if learning and education wasn’t a passion of mine, I still would have found this panel fascinating, and yet frustrating at the same time. We’ve (and by that I mean the U.S.) have been educating our kids the same way for decades. We are almost at the bottom of the scale on achievement, but almost at the top in money spent per child.

The transition happening in education reminds me of the transition we are going through in advertising. They are both based on emerging technology and social media interactions. In advertising we have to evolve if we want to survive. In education we have to evolve if we want our children to have a successful future.
