The brand Barbasol is an indisputable piece of Americana. The shaving cream has been everywhere from medicine cabinets across the country to the front lines of WWII. Still proudly American owned and manufactured near Columbus, Ohio, Barbasol fits the very definition of Made in the USA. Created in collaboration with Brooklyn screen printer Two Arms Inc., this poster celebrates Barbasol’s American heritage and features elements of Two Arms’ signature textured style.

THE STUDIO

Two Arms Inc. is a studio based in Brooklyn, NY that specializes in design and screen printing. It is run by the humble duo of Michael Tabie and Karen Goheen. They’re most known for their rough and textured style, combined with a strong presence of typography and illustration.  Their work has been featured in publications such as Print Magazine, Communication Arts, and Graphis. Needless to say, they are two extremely talented people and we were incredibly excited to get a chance to work with them. 

THE PRINTING

Screen printing is a tedious craft. Not including all of the other important variables, the process requires a keen eye, patience, and the ability to quickly solve problems on the press. Two Arms had these variables on lock-down. With their guidance, we screen-printed over 150 of these two-color beauties.
